That’s right, now all of your GOAT (and Mountain Goat) goods needs can be fulfilled on the world wide web. Everything you buy funds trips for kids. Cool, right?
We’ve had a lot of requests for some of our new shirts and stickers, so we’ve centralized it in one common space where you can feed your need for GOAT. There are a few sale items (get them while you can) and a free...

Just planting seeds...
Last summer Robbie, one of our interns, and I went on a backpacking trip in Panthertown Valley with a group of boys from a community center in Greenville. The boys we took on this three day backpacking trip were some of the older “veteran” students of the center’s summer program and considered leaders among their peers. Robbie and I went into the trip with this in mind and decided to go a...

We're hiring! →
Wanna change the world with us? We’re looking for someone to help us grow financially in the same way our programs are growing. This job isn’t for the faint of heart.
We’re excited about our growth and looking for the right person to not only help with what we already do (read: guide trips and hang out with kids) but to develop and execute a full marketing/fundraising plan.

2012 Summer Internships →
Want to be a part of the coolest/hardest/most challenging/most rewarding summer of your life? Know somebody (18 years old +) who does?
This. Is. It.
Everybody talks about work hard, play hard and likes to do funny things to portray that they do it - but we really do it. There’s no way around it in our work. We work together, we play together, and this summer our interns get to live...

The Mountain Goat →
The facebook page for our newest project, The Mountain Goat climbing gym is coming to life with progress shots, and soon enough some sweet deals for our opening.
For those of you that don’t know, this space will also be open to the public by the end of December, and we’re trying to get the word out that Greenville is finally going to have a climbing gym again.
Tell all your friends...
AU Missions Fair
On November 2nd we headed to Anderson University for their annual Ministry and Missions Fair. Ministries from all over South Carolina, North Carolina, and various other states came to AU to provide an outlet for students to learn more about what they do and find out how they can get involved. We got to be a part of it this year! We had a lot of students come by and talk to Joey about what we do...

A great example of a need
This Monday, on Labor Day, we were supposed to take a group of 20 international students from Furman University on a rafting trip on the Nantahala River.
Because the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee were aimlessly meandering up the southeastern United States, we spent most of last week discussing with the staff from Furman University whether or not we would still be able to lead the trip.
We...

We're building an indoor climbing gym! →
There’a a lot more to it than that (like having a donor match all donations dollar for dollar!), but we’re pretty excited around here these days. We would explain it all on here, but we think this awesome video that Zach Suggs created about it does the whole thing more justice.
We really hope you’ll be a part of it. There really is a ton of potential with this project to change...

What if Greenville is a website for ideas in Greenville. This idea caught our attention for sure, since we’re already working on it. Watch out for more info Monday!

2011 Summer
It’s always hard to believe when another summer season comes to an end. It feels like we’re just training the interns and getting started, and our 2011 summer is a wrap. It was a great one and it’s really overwhelming to think and look back on what happened over the last 10 weeks. The numbers below are just a mere snapshot of what happened this summer, and we’ll have more...

Boys & Bake Sales
This wad of cash doesn’t mean we’re drug dealers now. It does mean we had a really cool experience with some Young Life students last week.
If you don’t know, we provide trips for Young Life leaders (as well as church and youth small group leaders) to hang out with their students without having to deal with all of the logistics and liability. We recently planned a trip with...

The 3rd Annual Cornhole Classic →
It’s that time of year again. This thing is probably going to sell out this year (32 teams) so signup while you can get the early-bird rate. It goes up in September!
We’ve got a good lineup of prizes and even more good times.
There are already rumors of the team costume/team name competition stepping up a notch, so if you’re going to bring it - you better bring it!

New GOAT Shirt/Friendly Competition
Some of our local friends, and definitely out favorite local apparel company just released an incredible new shirt to raise some money for our summer programs.
These things are seriously awesome, and they’re not your typical t-shirts. They’re both printed on American Apparel shirts and have their own unique qualities. The green shirt uses a really cool discharge print process where...

First climbing trip of the year →
Last week we had the extreme honor of taking some Egyptian exchange students from Greenville Tech on their first ever climbing outing. I don’t think we’ve experienced any group more excited about climbing ever. These guys had a blast, and we had an incredible time getting to work with them.

Meet the Interns - Steve
We don’t really know what’s left to say about Steve that hasn’t already been said. Steve is the man. And he was born in Canada. He started as our first intern last summer and turned out to be awesome at what he does.
Steve spent the last year at Greenville Tech Honors College and is leaving us for college of Charleston next year. We’ll miss him, but we’re truly...

Meet the Interns - Rachael
The third intern we have the pleasure of introducing is our only girl intern for the summer, Rachael Holst. Rachael just finished her senior year at Furman and will be leaving for nursing school at Samford at the end of the summer.
Rachael is originally from Wyoming and rides horses, like a real life cowgirl. Really though, she enjoys jumping horses. Not jumping over horses. She will be working...

Meet the Interns - Robbie
Our second 2011 intern that we have the pleasure of introducing is Robbie Gilson. Robbie might be the smartest person to ever work at GOAT. Currently working towards Music and Religion degrees at Furman, Robbie is basically an expert at the Euphonium. Don’t know what a Euphonium is? Don’t worry, neither did we (think little tuba, that’s how Robbie described it to us).
Robbie is...

Meet the Interns - Alex
This summer we’re honored to have the experience of Alex Smith onboard at GOAT. Alex is a Outdoor Leadership major at North Greenville University, so we’re really not joking when we say he knows more about some of this stuff that we do.
Alex has experience with students and the outdoors at Camp McCall and through his classes at school. He also drives an awesome redneck truck and a...

A great man
A few weeks ago, on February 16th, a great man passed away. My uncle, Charlie McCrary, went to heaven after living the last 30 years of his life with a severe head injury, and the last 7 weeks with brain cancer. Charlie was the kind of guy who left you changed just by knowing him. Sure, he probably annoyed you a bit, but you couldn’t help but love him.
Charlie knew who Jesus was, and loved...
